How do I find the HEX color code of an image?

Choose or paste an image, then click or tap a pixel. Use the original-pixel magnifier, exact coordinates or arrow keys to target small details. Click Copy HEX to reuse the color. Transparent pixels include an alpha channel in their HEX code.

How does palette extraction work?

Accepted Answer

PixDeer samples up to 65,536 pixels from the whole image or your selected region and groups perceptually similar colors. Swatches represent sampled colors; coverage is approximate. Choose up to 12 colors, exclude near-white backgrounds, and save specific picks to build your own palette. Flat images can return fewer colors instead of filling slots with duplicates.

Will a large photo be resized before picking?

The preview is fitted to your screen, but individual picks and the magnifier read original decoded pixels. The shared browser memory limits apply; 8K images within those limits are supported. Only automatic palette analysis uses a smaller sample.

Why might a color differ from Photoshop or a brand guide?

Accepted Answer

These are browser-decoded sRGB values, including the browser’s color-profile conversion. JPEG compression, transparent edges, lighting and wide-gamut profiles can change the values you see. Use PNG for flat artwork and pick inside solid regions. This is not a CMYK or Pantone matching service; use the official brand specification for critical work.

Can I extract colors from a transparent logo?

Yes. Fully transparent pixels are excluded from palettes; partial transparency contributes proportionally less weight. Extracted swatches are opaque RGB colors. Manual picks preserve opacity, and the contrast checker composites them over your chosen background.

Can I download the palette without signing up?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Copy or download CSS variables, a HEX list, JSON, Tailwind CSS v4 theme variables or a GIMP GPL palette. Download a PNG palette sheet for sharing. Selected colors also show HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV and OKLCH. Saved swatches stay in this page until you change the image or close it; download them to keep them.

Are my photos or color codes uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No image, image name, pixel values or palette is sent to a processing server. Picking and extraction run locally in your browser. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC files up to 25 MB are accepted within browser memory limits.
